A bunny
A giraffe
A hummingbird
These shapes kindly floating through the sky like giant kites
With rounded edges, soft and fluffy
Always shifting as they drift slowly overhead
Their stark grays and whites contrasting the pale blue sky
I reach out to them and my fingers grasp nothing
Nothing but air, like a wisp of the wind or the fleeting breath of a dying soldier
What exactly what am I reaching for?
It's not tangible; it slips through my grasp every time
Perhaps life in the dirt is better than flying high above the storms
and falling right through the clouds.

Impatient
If you talk to anyone who waits at red lights or cares about fashion or owns a gun, they'll know a thing or two
about all of us; all of humanity. We are all flowers, we are all little universes, we are all the underdog future.
And maybe this is completely true, and maybe some girl pierced her ear in the 8th grade bathroom, and maybe you

We are all pieces of God, we are all forgetting about Heaven, we are all waiting politely for death to break in
through the bathroom window. You can ask the stains on the sidewalk, the birds who refus

Memories
I remember lying in bed with you, longing for a deeper connection. You would always sleep with your back to me, in an almost fetal position, as if you were physically guarding your heart. All I wanted was to touch those scars that ran down the center of your chest, but you told me you were not okay with someone else's heart beating within you so I let it be. The look in your eyes when you woke up in the morning; the sleepy surrealness of a dream playing at the corner of your lips, and the early morning light goldenly surrounding your messy hair like a halo was enough to quench any thirst I had for you. It was enough to resonate in me for a lo

Bad for Each Other
He's thirty-eight years old and he's driving his girl back to her home, a dormitory on a college campus. He's twice her age but they make love and rest naked under bedsheets and talk about everything.
With the innocence and naivety of her age she looks at him, eyes bright, smile young. He sort of laughs, and they both must understand the ridiculousness of the situation. But they're addicted to each other and make great art (even though it was just an evening to hang out, not the time to spend the night and fuck and enjoy the company more than they should).
A giggle. "Am I allowed?"
She leans towards him, has a flash in her mind of kiss

Sorry, I apologize for not really submitting anything in a while. I haven't been really writing a lot lately (barely any at all) though I've had plenty of ideas. This one just sort of came to me this morning and I wrote it fairly quickly (just a few minutes). I like the way it came out though. Feel free to comment any thoughts or feelings about this piece and whether you like it or not.
